To say the year has been hectic for BINI’s Aiah Arceta may be the understatementof her lifetime. The transition from buddingtrainees to hustling rookies and becomingfull-fledged pop idols has been quite a ride, especially for the 23-year-old Cebuana. 2024has been filled with growing pains, but it’s alsobeen overflowing with positive gains.

“I wouldn’t say na we’re there,” she says ofBINI’s fame. “More of ‘Finally, people kind ofget it now.’” Because Aiah can still clearly recalla time when this wasn’t the case.

“I remember when I started, my friendsask, ‘What’s BINI?’ Why am I training? Whyam I housed? Then I explain to them na we’reaiming to be an international group na hindilang limited to the Philippines. They don’tget it. Parang before, if we say, ‘We aim to goglobal; we aim to perform on stages outside thePhilippines,’ parangAy, ambisyosa masyado,’but kaya naman, eh!”

Today, BINI’s main rapper is so busy thatshe’s just taking idol life day by day. Granted, her lifestyle has always been fast-paced, butshe’s learned to adjust to being busy andbeing in the public eye. And with their packedschedule, she’s just thankful she has a supportsystem who makes time to see her—no matterhow spontaneous.

“It’s either super planned out months inadvance or it’s spontaneous talaga,” she shares.“[Kung early kami natapos with something,] Icall my friends, ‘Hey, I’m free na.’ ‘Ano, tara?’I’m grateful I have friends like that.” Even with the rest of BINI, Aiah tends toshow her love by spending her downtime withthem. “Like ‘Tara, labas tayo’ or ‘Let’s do thistogether.’ Parang anything now, we get to dotogether.”

Of course, Blooms would agree, nothingbeats all eight BINI girls together—especiallytheir humor. “I feel like that’s one of the biggest[factors why people love BINI]. Ang daming na-hook sa humor namin. Most groups, may imageto protect. Sa amin, parang, what image?” shelaughs. “We have no image to protect becausewe ruined our own image!”

Before, if we say, ‘We aim to go global;we aim to perform on stages outsidethe Philippines,’ parang ‘Ay, ambisyosamasyado,’ but kaya naman, eh!
