MANILA – President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. will host a program in Malacañan Palace on Tuesday to welcome the Filipino athletes who participated in the Paris Olympics headed by double gold medalist in artistic gymnastics Carlos Yulo.

Team Philippines will arrive at Villamor Airbase in Pasay City first on the same date, where they will be welcomed by their families, according to the Presidential Communications Office.

The Philippine delegation will also be paraded on the streets of Manila, where Filipinos are also expected to cheer for their sports heroes.

Marcos will personally hand over incentives and honors for the Olympians at the event's culmination at Malacañang.

According to the Philippines' Republic Act 10699 or the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act, gold medalists in international sports competitions shall receive P10 million from the government, silver medalists are entitled to P5 million, while bronze medalists will get P2 million.

This is on top of pledges by the private sector and government units for the Pinoy athletes.

Aside from Yulo, among those who have secured podium finishes in France are Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio. Both pugilists clinched bronze medals in their respective classes in women's boxing.

Philippines' campaign in Paris has yet to be concluded as weightlifter Vanessa Sarno and golfers Bianca Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina are still contending in the Summer Games as of writing.
