MANILA — ABS-CBN’s BINI documentary was named as a finalist at the 2025 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards for Best Documentary in the Biography and Profiles category.

The recognition, which is composed of various TV and film entries from around the world, was released by the organization on its official website.

The New York Festivals TV & Film Awards honors content from over 50 countries.

Produced by iWant Originals and ABS-CBN News Documentaries, "BINI Chapter 1: Born to Win" follows the members of the Nation's Girl Group during the crucial days before "BINIverse," their three-night debut concert at the New Frontier Theater.

The film also charts the journey of the 8-member group — from auditions to the pandemic, from mental health and personal struggles to their breakthrough success.

The film is ABS-CBN News’ first feature-length documentary in 4 years and is directed by filmmaker Jet Leyco, written by journalist Jeff Canoy, edited by Brian Gonzales, and produced by Karen Namora, Hera Sanchez and Tanya Jamon-Navarro.

“We are proud of BINI and their global impact and we hope to continue to do more stories together,” ABS-CBN News Chief Francis Toral said in a statement. “Cheers to the documentary team for the recognition and what a comeback for ABS-CBN News Documentaries.”

Previously, ABS-CBN News nabbed multiple wins in the festival including the Bronze World Medal for Best Public Affairs program for KBYN: Kaagapay ng Bayan, Bronze World Medal for Best Documentary for “#NoFilter: Tao Po”, Gold World Medal for Marawi documentary “Di Ka Pasisiil”, Silver World Medal for modern slavery documentary “Fedelina: A Stolen Life” among others.

The first two parts of the BINI documentary series, "Chapter 1: Born to Win" and "Chapter 2: Here With You," are currently available to stream on iWant.

The much-anticipated “BINI Chapter 3: Hanggang Dulo” is set to be released in June on the streaming platform.

Chapter 3 caps off the trilogy and will follow BINI during last year’s concerts in the United States and Canada as well as their homecoming concert at the Araneta Coliseum.

BINI is currently on the group's first world tour. In their first stop in Dubai, a new documentary has been teased as currently in production.
