MANILA -- Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena is looking forward to the rest of the season after his campaign in the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he finished fourth in his event.

Obiena, who is currently ranked second in the world behind Olympic champion Armand Duplantis of Sweden, just missed out on the podium in the Summer Games after thrice failing to clear the 5.95-meter mark at the Stade de France.

He has since returned to training, telling fans in a social media post that he intends to "attack the rest of the season and make you proud."

Asked when he will start training for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, Obiena says he remains focused on the current season.

Meanwhile, the local government of Manila awarded P500,000 to Obiena also on Wednesday, as an incentive for his performance in the Paris Games.
