It wasn't as plenty as the weekend, but the Philippines still collected an impressive number of gold medals nonetheless in Day 2 of the Southeast Asian Games.

For perspective: the hosts collected 15 gold medals on Monday, the same total that second-place Vietnam has had over the past 2 days.

That's thanks to the Filipino arnisadors, who scooped up 7 gold medals, bringing their aggregate to 12, the team's target with one more day left in the competition.

Meanwhile, Hidilyn Diaz finally grabbed her first SEA Games title, both Gilas 3x3 basketball teams dominated their respective gender divisions to finish first, while downhill cyclists John Derick Farr and Lea Denise Belgira won the day's first two gold medals.

Edmar Tacuel (pencak silat), Monica Torres (duathlon), and Rodel Labayo and Angelo Morales (lawn bowls) rounded out the hometown's gold harvest.

Overall, the general-championship-seeking hosts now have 38 gold medals, exceeding their totals in the past four SEA Games.

The Philippines also has 20 silver and 13 bronze medals.

In the 2009 Games in Laos, the Filipinos came home with 38 gold, too.

In 22 SEA Games the Philippines has participated in, there were 12 times that it finished the regional competition with 38 or less gold medals.
