MANILA, Philippines – Far Eastern University (FEU) kicked off its drive for a 10th straight UAAP high school boys football title with a clinical 6-0 demolition of University of Santo Tomas (UST), Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

Edmar Adonis set the tone for the Baby Tamaraws with a brace in the first half. He started in the place of Tarshish Garciano, who incurred a freak injury during the warm-ups.

"Actually, it is not about the nine-peat or ten-peat, they just have to be humble and I want them to improve their quality of football," head coach Park Bobae said of his team.

Adonis scored in the 11th minute and added another goal four minutes later, before Josh Laurens closed the period with a 43rd minute strike.

Stephen Soria, Karl Absalon, and Andrei Sabejon netted a goal each in the second half to complete the rout for FEU.

Park was pleased to see his side win their opening match in dominant fashion.

"For me, the most difficult game to play is the first, so I continue to encourage them and tell them to enjoy [playing] with our system," he said.

In the second game, Ateneo de Manila High School took its second win of the season at the expense of last year's runner-up National University (NU)-Nazareth School with a 1-0 win.

The game's sole goal came from Enzo Lucindo during the 35th minute.

The Bullpups had chances in the second period, but just like in their first game against UST, Blue Eaglets goalkeeper Artuz Cezar came up big for his squad.

Ateneo will shoot for its third consecutive victory as they take on De La Salle-Zobel at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The second game will be the rematch of last season's final between FEU and NU at 4 p.m. Both matches will be played at FEU Diliman Football Field.
