MANILA — Malacañang on Friday dismissed concerns over President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s health after social media posts claimed that his gums were bleeding during a public engagement last Tuesday.

Speculations about the President’s health surfaced after several social media users said that Marcos Jr’s gums were supposedly bleeding while he was delivering a speech at an event honoring slain uniformed personnel and their families at Camp Aguinaldo, the Armed Forces of the Philippines headquarters.

Clips of the event have since gone viral on social media.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro however said that there is nothing to worry about as the President is in good health.

(You can see that the President has activities almost daily, including being with the Alyansa slate. Apart from that, we have regular meetings with him)

She said that Marcos Jr. is in good health, based on her interactions with him.

(If he is not in good health, the President would not be able to fulfill his daily tasks)

The Palace official meanwhile called on "fake news peddlers" not to make up stories regarding the President’s health.

(It is not good for the country. It would be better to pray that our leaders have good health. And let's avoid speculations. Some, even if they are not doctors, are playing doctor on social media)
