MANILA – The House of Representatives has granted travel clearance to Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte for a "personal foreign trip" to 16 countries and Hong Kong.

In a document dated March 20 but only shared Tuesday, Duterte was allowed to go to several destinations from March 20 to May 10, including The Netherlands.

The lawmaker's father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, is currently detained in the International Criminal Court detention facility in Scheveningen.

The elder Duterte is facing a charge of murder as a crime against humanity at the ICC over his administration's war on drugs and the Davao Death Squad killings.

Duterte was arrested by local authorities on March 11 and brought to The Hague the same day. He made his first appearance before the ICC via videolink last March 14.

The ICC set an April 4 deadline for prosecutors to disclose to the defense evidence to be used for the confirmation hearing, while the defense was given an April 11 deadline to inform the prosecution what defense Duterte will raise.

The confirmation of charges hearing is scheduled for September 23.
