Ten members of a Department of Health medical team were hospitalized after a dump truck crashed into their van at EDSA Munoz at 3:30 a.m. Friday.

Another vehicle was also involved in the accident.

Authorities said the medical team was on their way home after providing medical services in the annual Traslacion religious procession when the accident happened.

The truck driver involved in the accident said he was bringing a load of backfill from Pasay City to Bulacan when he felt sleepy while driving along EDSA Munoz.

"Napaidlip ako hindi ko na napansin nakatigil na ‘yung sa harap ko. Mabagal lang pero mabigat kasi karga," the driver, who refused to be identified, said.

MMDA Traffic Enforcer Lara May Nadayao said the van carrying the medical team was making a u-turn when the truck ran into them.

The vehicles and drivers involved in the accident were brought to QCPD Traffic Sector 6 for investigation.

Millions of devotees joined the annual procession of the Jesus Nazarene that lasted nearly 21 hours, six hours longer than last year.
