MANILA — A P500 monthly wage hike for household helpers in Metro Manila will take effect in early January 2025, the Department of Labor and Employment said Friday.

This will bring the sector’s monthly minimum wage to P7,000 effective Jan. 4, DOLE said.

The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) also approved a wage hike for kasambahays in Northern Mindanao, raising their monthly minimum salary to P6,000 from P5,000 effective Jan. 12, noted Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma.

Asked about possible penalties for employers who disobey the wage order, Laguesma said, “Ang pwede mangyari d’yan dodoble yung amount na dapat nilang bayaran, depende sa circumstances.”

Domestic workers can report erring employers to the nearest DOLE office or call the agency’s hotline 1349, the official said.
