Every year, the Met Gala delivers a red carpet filled to the brim with head-turning ensembles, iconic fashion statements, and beauty looks to remember. This year's Met Gala comes with the theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style". This year's theme is one of the best, in our opinion, for its symbolic theme. Black dandyism isn't a trend, it's a statement for black people, a representation of their culture, self-expression, and talent. With co-chairs Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and LeBron James as honorary chair, the lineup could not be any more perfect, as these men embody modern personal style and are icons in their respective fields.

While the fashion statements delivered impeccable tailoring, one thing has to be said about the accompanying beauty statements: it was refreshing. Seeing a lot of celebrities go the barely there route was a good take on less is more, while the heavily contoured faces made for such apt statements, most especially for the black stars. Indeed, black is truly beautiful. The combination of a rebel attitude and a certain swagger gave these stars the spotlight they deserved.

Ahead, we round up some of our favorites from the night. Can you spot some of your favorites in this list?

Doechii

Rapper Doechii rocked the Met Gala with an afro 'do and the power combo of glossy lids + gradient lips. Oh, and that embossed Louis Vuitton emblem on her cheek? The style statement to beat.

Anne Hathaway

The seasoned actress graced the Met Gala carpet with her glowing aura. Her high ponytail framed her face perfectly, as did her beautiful, barely there makeup that consisted of brushed-up brows, peachy pink blush, and a peach lip.

Teyana had an assignment, and she understood it. This durag statement is the cherry on top of an already striking look that consists of power brows, dramatic lashes, a chiseled face, and gradient glossy brown lips. She's black dandy and she knows it.

Zendaya

The modern-day style icon showed up on the red carpet and did the theme justice. She went for a sleek and chic white tailored suit, topped off perfectly with a smoky brown eye with long lashes, a contoured cheek, and what seems to be the trendy look of the night: glossy gradient brown lips!

Clad in head-to-toe CHANEL, singer Jennie did the fashion house proud in a classy beauty look to go with her chic ensemble. Departing from her typical Korean beauty look, Jennie opted for a graphic winged eyeliner, some Twiggy-esque lower lashes, barely-there blush, and a glossy peach lip.

The stunning actress and model did the Met Gala carpet good as she arrived in a beautiful tailored suit by Prada. But what captured our attention more was the fact that she had very little makeup on, no elaborate nail extensions—just that stunning smile.

Fresh from space just a few weeks ago, Katy Perry makes her expected appearance at the Met Gala in a deconstructed suit jacket paired with what seems to be molten black metal. Do we love it? We do! We also love that she's come a long way from her ultra colorful makeup days, dabbling in simpler, more mature looks like this. That lipstick shade makes her glow!

The beautiful singer brought her A-game to the Met Gala today, in an intricate updo and a nude makeup look that consisted of soft contouring, wispy lashes, peach blush, and matte nude lips. It's a yes for us!

Lizzo as a blonde boss? We're here for it. The rapper pulled all the stops and delivered a look worthy of a second take. The platinum blonde hair frames her beautiful brown skin so well, one that she punctuated with a deep plum glossy lip. Oh, and the tux-inspired nails? A nice touch!

Can we give it up for the eye-popping bejeweled brows against this pastel Chanel number? Lupita is a vision in this look, with her flawless skin, smoky black eyeshadow, and creamy burgundy lips.

We often see Miley Cyrus in dark, dramatic makeup looks, but for this year's Met, we're refreshed to see her with barely-there makeup. With slicked back hair in a clean updo, groomed brows, bare eyelids with long eyelashes, and equally nude lips, this face served as the perfect complement to her all black look.

Nicki Minaj

The queen of rap delivers on looks both on and off the red carpet. In this year's Met Gala, she dons smoky brown and black eyes, extra-long and extra flirty eyelashes, and the lip of the evening: gradient glossy brown lips! She opted for contrasting royal blue claws to give her look an extra oomph!

Ever the timeless beauty, we love a reinvented Nicole Kidman. In this year's Met Gala carpet, she rocked a disheveled short hairstyle, risque black smoky eyes, and a peach pink lip. What we loved even more about her 'do was that it was bleached on top, and brunette at the bottom. We love this cool Nicole version!

Top fashion model Vittoria is already stunning without makeup, but when she has some on, she looks even more stunning. At the Met Gala carpet, she rocked a sleek ponytail, bejeweled eyelids with soft smoky eyeshadow, white eyeliner, and a contoured cheek.

The Euphoria star rocked a heavily dramatic eyeliner and lash look that took the center of attention in her entire ensemble. The rest of her face was heavily contoured, and her lips painted a glossy brown hue.
