MANILA -- The Carlos Palanca Foundation is now accepting entries to the 72nd Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature (CPMA).

Considered the most prestigious literary competition in the country, the Palanca Awards is open to Filipinos and former citizens based locally or abroad. 

They may submit one entry for each of the categories, which include: Novel and Nobela, English Division (Short Story, Short Story for Children, Essay, Poetry, Poetry Written for children, One-act Play, and Full-length Play), Filipino Division (Maikling Kuwento, Maikling Kuwentong Pambata, Sanaysay, Tula, Tula Para sa mga Bata, Dulang May Isang Yugto, Dulang Ganap ang Haba, and Dulang Pampelikula), Regional Languages Division (Short Story-Cebuano, Short Story-Hiligaynon, and Short Story-Ilokano), and Kabataan Division (Kabataan Essay and Kabataan Sanaysay).

For the Novel and Nobela categories, only unpublished works and those released within two years between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2024 may be submitted. On the other hand, only unproduced works are allowed in the Dulaang Pampelikula category. 

Works that have been awarded a prize in another contest before the midnight of May 31, 2024 are not qualified.

Entries must be sent online via the Palanca Awards website by May 31 this year, with organizers reminding applicants that they will not accept printed and email submissions.
