MANILA – (UPDATED) Actress-host Kris Aquino was a vision in yellow – her signature color – during the world premiere of “Crazy Rich Asians” at TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

Aquino opted to wear a yellow Filipiniana-inspired gown by Michael Leyva, one of her go-to designers.

The country’s “Queen of All Media” revealed that she tried a total of five gowns which were created by Leyva and another top Filipino designer, Francis Libiran.

Aquino completed her red carpet look with diamond jewelry from Diagold and a clutch that showed the word “love” which she received from her friend, Mayor Lani Cayetano.

Her hair and makeup were done by Pin Antonio and RB Chanco, respectively.

Looking back on her Hollywood red carpet experience, Aquino said in a lengthy Instagram post: “If you’ll ask me what my unforgettable moment inside the TCL Chinese Theater was – it was being approached by WB Pictures group chairman Toby Emmerich because he wanted to introduce his favorite staff member from the Beverly Hills Hotel who is a Filipina-American. He said that for 25 years, she’d been taking such great care of him, but had never asked for premiere night tickets except for tonight for ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ because she wanted to meet me.”

“It was just so heartwarming how many pictures Mr. Emmerich took of us because it just proved to me that anywhere in the world, our graciousness as a people is valued.”

Aquino went on to thank “all the Filipinos who showed up with their flags, banners, and patiently waited since lunchtime to get prime spots.”

“Iyong effort na binigay niyo I know wasn’t just for me, but because of Philippine pride. Uulitin ko po, kay sarap maging Pilipino,” she said. “This was a chance to represent our country, and I thank God for the once-in-a-lifetime blessing.”

Aquino appears on “Crazy Rich Asians” as Princess Intan, a Malay royalty.

The movie will hit cinemas in the Philippines on August 22.
