MANILA -- Award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose passed away on Saturday, March 2. She was 60.
Senator Jinggoy Estrada, a friend and colleague of Jose, confirmed the development to ABS-CBN News.

Jose, whose real name was Mary Jane Guck, died in her residence in Quezon City. Based on initial information gathered by ABS-CBN News, Jose had not been replying to messages and calls from her relatives.

Jose, who started acting in the 1980s, was playing the role of prison warden Dolores Espinas on "FPJ's Batang Quiapo" at the time of her death.
Jose memorably won the Best Actress award in the 2016 Cannes Film Festival for her role in "Ma'Rosa." In the local scene, Jose received acting accolades from Gawad Urian, Famas, Luna Awards and other award-giving bodies.
She earned a FAMAS nomination in 1984 for her debut on "Private Show," and a Gawad Urian for Lino Brocka's 1985 film "White Slavery."
On television, her portrayal of Magda in the series "Mula sa Puso" took her popularity to new heights.
