MANILA - Derek Ramsay and model Joanne Villablanca have called it quits after more than six years of dating.

Ramsay told Pep that the split is "all for the best," but refused to provide further details. "Yes, we have broken up," the actor was quoted to have simply said.

Their split comes as a surprise as it was only two months ago when Ramsay was openly talking about marriage in front of Villablanca during a contract signing with another network.

He also revealed then that he had been thinking about proposing to Villablanca, whom he has been living together with since 2017.

In a previous interview with "Tonight with Boy Abunda," Ramsay said that he believes that marriage is a huge step and should be taken seriously, citing his parents as an example.

"I have the best and perfect marriage to follow," he shared. "My parents have been married for over 40 years . I just want to be prepared so that my marriage will last like my parents."
