MANILA — Mikee Morada, the boyfriend of actress and social media star Alex Gonzaga, emerged as among the top councilors in Lipa City, based on the latest unofficial tally from election returns Tuesday.

With 73,171 votes, Morada placed second in the councilor race in the lone district of Lipa City, as of the 7:20 p.m. transmission of partial and unofficial results, representing 90.61 percent of clustered precincts.

The ranking secures a spot for Morada as one of 12 councilors to be proclaimed.

Even to those outside Lipa City, Morada has become a familiar name, owing to his TV guestings alongside Gonzaga, as well as his regular appearances in the comedienne's widely followed vlogs.

On Instagram, Gonzaga congratulated Morada, whom she referred to as "my love," with a photo of them together.

"You really are meant to serve your kababayans," Gonzaga wrote. "You have a good and pure heart."

While Gonzaga can now celebrate the win of her long-time boyfriend, she and sister Toni, also an actress, continue to express support for their father, Bonoy Gonzaga, whose is settling for second in the mayoral race in Taytay, Rizal.
