If there's anything I would like to celebrate this Pride month, it is the special connection that I have built and fostered with them,” says Patrick Galang, artistic designer, Rafglang.

“As a community long relegated to the fringes of society, we as queer people have been hardwired to think less of ourselves. On the surface, it is assumed that because of our expressions of identity, we exist primarily in the realm of confidence. Beneath the veneer of assurance, however, there exists a turmoil that swings furiously from self-loathing and self-love,” says Angelo Ramirez de Cartagena, head of UMusic, Universal Music Group.

Jeb Fronda, digital and creative consultant shares, “Those who don't understand are fearful, but the LGBTQIA+ community is all about love for self and for others—and that's how we will achieve equality through love, however tough it may be.”

“Pride Month for me means many different things: freedom, inclusion, solidarity, fighting discrimination, and most of all, self-love — from accepting yourself, zits and all, to taking good care of yourself and pampering yourself to make sure that you are comfortable and confident in your own skin,” shares TikTok PH celebrity operations manager, Mark Sablan.

“As much as it is a celebration of how far the LGBTQIA+ community has come, Pride is still a protest. It is a fight for equal human rights. And protesting doesn’t always have to be loud and huge. Simply living and expressing your truth as a queer person is a form of protest. Educating others on the lived experiences of queer people is a protest. Kindness and patience amidst persecution is a protest. And so, we must continue protesting even in our own little ways because these small efforts add up and create a ripple effect — building a bigger safe space where every queer person can thrive as they are. Happy Pride!,” emphasizes Janlee Dungca, Castro PR managing directress, and head of PR, LoveYourself Inc.

Angelo Ramirez de Cartagena adds, “So, as we cap off the festivities and protest that is inherent to pride month and beyond, may we be reminded to be kinder to everyone, most especially to ourselves. The world is already hard on us, the last thing we want is to be another antagonistic figure in our own story. Whether that tenderness is manifested in the luxury of self-care, standing out on your terms, and speaking up for the LGBTQIA+ community, rally for yourself, too. And just as the valiant queer heroes and pioneers that came before us, as well as of our family (chosen or otherwise) continue to remind us: just breathe, it will get better.”
