Photo from UAAP Media.MANILA — Noel Kampton flexed his form as De La Salle University swept Adamson University on Saturday.

The Green Spikers tallied a 25-19, 25-23, 25-19 win over the Soaring Falcons in their UAAP Season 87 men’s volleyball tournament clash at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Kampton put up 24 points built on 22 attacks, a block, and an ace to power La Salle to its first win, and this was on top of eight receptions and seven digs.

“Somehow, unti-unti na naming nakukuha yung gusto niyang mangyari para sa amin,” said Kampton, whose squad suffered a three-set loss to National University in their first game of Season 87. “Ang mindset ko lang rin is chine-cherish ko lang yung last year ko sa UAAP, so teamwork lang talaga.”

La Salle head coach Jose Roque then hailed how Kampton was living up to his challenge for him and the rest of his fellow veterans.

“Gaya ng nabanggit namin sa kanila, since they are already in their senior year, they have to step up and lead the team,” he pointed out. “Kung hindi pa nila madala yung rookies, there is something wrong na. Kayo na yung nakaka angat diyan so kailangan nilang tulungan.”

Helping the Alas Pilipinas player were Uriel Mendoza and Michael Fortuna who had 13 and 10, respectively, while Eco Adajar tossed 16 of DLSU’s 19 excellent sets together with two points, both on blocks.

DLSU’s dominance over AdU was evident in attack points as they doubled them, 54-27, and this was despite the Taft-based spikers committing 10 more errors than their opponents, 25-15.

On the other hand, Leo Coguimbal top-scored for Adamson with eight points, and helping him were Jude Aguilar, Mark Paulino, and Ahmed Tahiluddin who each scored seven markers.

Unfortunately, these were not enough as the Soaring Falcons remained winless in two games.
