MANILA, Philippines – adidas is the new outfitter of Gilas Pilipinas.

This ushers in a new era for Philippine basketball as it moves on from Nike after nearly two decades.

"Seeing adidas’ consistent efforts to support athletes of all ages, backgrounds, and sports, we are truly honored to mark this new chapter for Gilas Pilipinas through this partnership," said SBP president Al Panlilio.

In a press release, adidas said it's a result of a multi-year partnership with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, promising to support the national basketball team.

The world-renowned footwear brand said it is committed to "creating merchandise that matches the enthusiasm of Filipino fans," and it wants to make sure it is passed on to the Gilas athletes.
