Despite crawling back from down 15 against the San Miguel Beermen, Bolick and the rest of the Jong Uichico-coached squad fell short and settled with a 98-89 defeat at the hands of the league’s perennial powerhouse.
The San Beda University product’s 12 points on 2-of-11 shooting from the field also did not help their cause. Rather, that further fueled the narrative that — according to reports — Bolick is getting uneasy with Uichico and his squad.
However, the 6-foot-1, all-around ace was quick to deny that there was a rift that was slowly brewing between him and his coach.
In contrast, the former De La Salle University standout even emphasized how upbeat he is about the new schemes that Uichico is running for them in the All-Filipino conference.
“Medyo nanibago lang kami, pero maganda yung tinatakbo namin at yung ball movement namin,” Bolick pointed out. “Ganun talaga, first game eh, pero kita mo naman yung ball movement namin.”
“Maganda yung sistema namin.
“So far, optimistic si coach, optimistic kaming lahat. Sana lang ma-improve pa namin,” he added.
To add to his optimism, despite his struggles against the Beermen, Bolick still had eight assists, three steals, three rebounds, and only one turnover.
This, according to the former Gilas Pilipinas guard, is a good step towards his goal of also making those around him even better.
