MANILA -- Businessman Charlie "Atong" Ang is set to file a formal complaint against whistleblowers who tagged him in the case of the missing cockfight enthusiasts.

In a statement, Ang's camp said a complaint against Julie "Dondon" Patidongan and Alan Bantiles, alias "Brown", will be filed Thursday morning before the Office of Mandaluyong City Prosecutor Arthur Magpantay.

The complaint alleges that Patidongan and Bantiles "conspired to commit attempted robbery with violence and intimidation, grave threat, grave coercion, incriminating against innocent persons and slander" against Ang.

The two have reportedly been implying Ang's alleged involvement in the case of missing sabungeros.

"This has tarnished his dignity and reputation, causing anxiety and stress to his family," Ang's camp said.

"The accusations against Atong Ang are entirely false, baseless, and malicious. He categorically and unequivocally denies any involvement in the alleged unlawful, heinous, and criminal acts that have recently been reported and linked to him," it added.

Ang's camp likewise appeals to the public and the media to "respectfully urge everyone to refrain from spreading misinformation or drawing conclusions without evidence."

The Philippine National Police–Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) earlier said cannot move forward with a substantial administrative investigation into the missing sabungeros (cockfight enthusiasts) case without a sworn affidavit from the key witness who claims that around 20 police officers were involved.

The suspect, identified only as alias Totoy, one of the six security guards at the Manila Arena who now wants to turn state witness, admitted that the sabungeros are dead and were allegedly strangled with wire before being dumped in the lake.
