MANILA — Mason Amos will be waiting for a season before he sees action in the UAAP once again.

The newest De La Salle Green Archer, who left the Ateneo Blue Eagles' den last July, is relegated to being a fan for now as he is serving his one-year residency with the Taft-based team.

"So far, so good. It's been an eventful transition, but it's been good," Amos told a few reporters on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Amos, who is taking up Sports Studies in La Salle, also shared how his newest teammate Mike Phillips and head coach Topex Robinson have helped him in his entry to Vito Cruz from Katipunan.

"It's great, you've got Mike Phillips, and he's made my transition easier for me," he said.

"With Coach Topex, he's a great coach. He's a player's coach, and he really knows how to communicate with his players and build relationships. He also welcomed me, and I'm just grateful that he took me in," added the Gilas Pilipinas forward.

For now, he is shifting his focus on his studies as well as getting his body ready for next year's competition.

"I'll just continuously study my course, then just keep on working on my fitness and getting stronger for next year," he said, while also sharing his sentiments on losing two playing years due to the newest transfer rules of the UAAP.

"I'm not looking at it in a negative way. I know I lost two playing years, but I still look at it positively," said the Fil-Aussie, who will have  two playing years with La Salle.

Meanwhile, Amos revealed that also a part of the things that he has done during his time off is attempting to reconnect with his former teammates in Loyola Heights.

"I've tried communicating," admitted Amos. "But a lot of them have cut their communication with me, so I haven't gotten to talk with them."

Asked if he has any message for them, here's what he had to say: "I wish them all the best. I have no bad blood, and I'm grateful to be a part of what they had."

But now that he's over the green side of the historic rivalry, Amos is hoping for the best for the Green Archers in their bid to win back-to-back UAAP championships.

"I know it's gonna be a tough year no matter what, but I know that these guys can pull it through. I have full confidence in this team. They've done it before, so they can do it again."

Also among his aspirations, he added, is playing with his Gilas teammate Kevin Quiambao who has been linked to countless professional teams outside the UAAP.

"If he stays, that would be great. I've played with him in Gilas already, so if I'm able to play with him in La Salle, it would be great," said Amos.
