MANILA — Filipino Olympians will be given a heroes' welcome by Malacañang when they return to the Philippines on Tuesday evening, the Office of the President announced Monday.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo, bronze medalists Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas, and the rest of the Filipino Olympic athletes are scheduled to arrive from Paris around 6 p.m., Tuesday, via a chartered flight where they will be received by their families at the Maharlika Presidential Hangar at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

"Just to be very clear about it, what we provided is that each athlete was allowed to invite 4 members, either their family, close ones, etc. We left it entirely to them," the official said. "So whoever is part of that welcome is who the athletes want to be there."

The 7.7-kilometer motorcade, which was initially scheduled on Tuesday, will start at 3 p.m. at the Aliw Theater and will end at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
