MANILA -- Medalists Carlos Yulo and Aira Villegas will be the Philippines' flag-bearers in the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday.

Yulo had delivered two gold medals for the Philippines after ruling the vault and floor exercise in men's artistic gymnastics, while Villegas had an Olympic debut to remember, capturing a bronze in the women's 50kg division of boxing.

Thanks to Yulo's haul, the Philippines improved upon its performance in the Tokyo Games in 2021, when they won four medals -- one gold from Hidilyn Diaz, two silvers from Petecio and Paalam, and a bronze from Marcial.

MANILA -- While training for his highly-anticipated trilogy bout against Jarred Brooks, Filipino MMA star Joshua Pacio took a big risk that paid off in a major way.
