MANILA — After two seasons with TerraFirma, Javi Gomez de Liaño has bid the Dyip goodbye.

The former University of the Philippines standout announced the development on Friday, with the 25-year-old expressing his gratitude to the team he was traded to after being drafted by Barangay Ginebra.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity of being able to play in the PBA, most especially making it to the playoffs with this franchise,” penned Gomez de Liaño, who averaged 15.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in the Dyip’s quarterfinals run during the 2024 PBA Philippine Cup.

“The team accepted me with open arms from the day I got traded and have helped me develop into not only a better player, but more importantly, a better individual.”

Gomez De Liaño was drafted by Ginebra as the eighth overall pick in the 2022 Rookie Draft but was immediately traded for Jeremiah Grey, and it was with TerraFirma where he was able to spread his wings in the PBA.

“To the fans, thank you for showing up to our games and cheering us on! To my teammates, thank you for being real ones on and off the court. Our bond will definitely go a long way!” he continued, while also showing love to their staff.

"To Coach John [Cardel], assistant coaches, S&C staff, and management, thank you for the constant support and motivation. Your confidence in my game has pushed me to always be my best.

“These two years were definitely a big boost to my career. Without the trust, I wouldn’t be here and I will always be grateful for that.

“Till we meet again down the road,” ended Gomez de Liaño, whose brother Juan is playing for the Seoul SK Knights of the Korean Basketball League.
