Philippines’ Sophia Laforteza, 20, landed Top 2 in HYBE Corporation x Geffen Records’ latest idol training initiation show, The Debut: Dream Academy. Sophia is the country’s only contestant in the global girl group search series.

The South Korean show shared the final votes from fans on its socials, showing each of the 20 hopefuls’ exact results. Sophia received a total of 92,617 in the tally, securing the #2 spot after South Korea’s Nayoung, who amassed 109,289. Since Sophia placed second in Mission 1, she will automatically proceed to Mission 2 of the audition program along with the other aspirants.

The Top 6 contenders who were chosen, apart from Nayoung and Sophia, include Brazil’s Samara, Switzerland’s Manon, United States’ Lara, and South Korea’s Yoonchae. Mission 1 showcased the trainees’ stage presence and performance as a girl group. Having completed the first challenge, the finalists are entitled to immunity from elimination.

The Debut: Dream Academy premiered on September 1 on YouTube and Japanese platform Abema, and will finish by November 17. In the finale, the newest members and name of the global girl group will be revealed by HYBE and Geffen.
