MANILA -- The sweltering hot weather with afternoon or evening thunderstorms is expected to continue this week.

A frontal system, which is the meeting zone of cold and warm air masses, will affect parts of Northern Luzon on Monday and Tuesday.

This means scattered rains over the northern portions of Ilocos Region, Cordillera, and Cagayan Valley on Monday and Tuesday. 

The rest of the country will continue to experience warm and humid conditions especially in the morning through midday. Afternoon thunderstorms will follow, especially in Northern and Central Luzon and Mindanao. 

Parts of MIMAROPA, Bicol, and Visayas may also expect intense thunderstorms midweek until the weekend. 

In Metro Manila, afternoon thunderstorms will hit from Monday through Wednesday, with hotter and drier conditions for the remainder of the week
