MANILA — Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla raised concerns on possible violation of the sub judice rule as the Ombudsman asks them to respond to the complaint of Sen. Imee Marcos on the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte while a petition for habeas corpus is pending at the Supreme Court.

The sub judice rule essentially prohibits parties from publicly talking about a case pending before a court to help insulate judges from pressure and influence.

Remulla and the other respondents, Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Director Major General Nicholas Torre and Special Envoy on Transnational Crime Markus V. Lacanilao, met at the DOJ Friday morning to discuss their next move.
