MANILA — The voting count in Quezon City neared its completion on Tuesday morning, with elections officials working to finalize the transmission of election returns.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has tallied about 97 percent of votes in the city, as of 6:25 a.m.

Districts 3 and 6 have completed their transmission.

The transmission process in some clustered precincts encountered delays due to technical issues with some Automated Counting Machines (ACMs).

Election workers have resorted to manually uploading election returns, with teachers from clustered precincts physically transporting USB drives with the election results to the city board of canvassing.

Manual uploads were still pending in around 20 precincts. 

According to the partial and unofficial results, incumbent Mayor Joy Belmonte was leading the race.

Officials anticipate her re-election proclamation once all election returns are uploaded.
