MANILA (UPDATED) — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday announced that commuters will be treated to free rides on MRT and LRT lines on April 30 until May 3 to mark this year’s Labor Day.

“Nais kong sabihin sa lahat ng ating mga commuter ay inutos ko na para magbigay ng ating kaunting parangal sa ating mga manggagawa dito sa ngayon nasa – kasama sa Labor Day Celebration ay maging libre ang sakay sa MRT 3, LRT 1 and 2,” Marcos Jr. said in a video message uploaded on his social media pages.

“Ito ay bilang kaunting pagkilala sa sakripisyo at ang kontribusyon ng ating mga manggagawa hindi lamang sa ating ekonomiya kundi  sa ating lipunan. Happy Labor Day!” he said.

Malacañang said the free rides will be available all day on the said dates.
