MANILA — Three out of 5 Filipino cardinals are now in Rome, Italy on the eve of Pope Francis' scheduled funeral on Saturday.

Bong Bayaras, one of the residents of Pontificio Collegio Filippino.

Pontificio Collegio Filippino is the "home in Rome" of Filipino priests sent by bishops for ongoing studies at pontifical universities in Rome.

Another Filipino cardinal, Luis Antonio Tagle, has been based in the Vatican since 2019.

Only Tagle, Advincula, and David are cardinal-electors who will partake in the conclave to elect the next Pope.

There was no immediate information on whether Gaudencio Rosales, the oldest Filipino living cardinal who turned 92 last year, will also be in Rome to attend Pope Francis' funeral.

Bayaras said the Filipino Cardinals will stay at the Pontificio Collegio Filippino before the start of the conclave.
