MANILA — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday said it has recorded a 60.18 percent reduction in index crimes during Holy Week or from April 14 to 20, 2025, compared to the same period last year.

Crime cases dropped from 113 in 2024 to 45 this year, a reduction of 68 incidents, NCRPO said.

“The most substantial declines were observed in murder, rape, theft, and physical injuries, marking a transformative era of peace and order for Metro Manila,” it said.

NCRPO said murder cases dropped by 87.5 percent or 8 cases down to 1.

Rape was reduced by 77.78 percent or 18 cases down to 4, while physical injuries has a 66.67 percent reduction or 12 cases down to 4.

Meanwhile, there was a 56.36 percent plunge for theft cases or 55 cases down to 24.

Carnapping for both motor vehicles and motorcycles also had a 75 percent decline or from 4 to 1.

NCRPO said their Case Solution Efficiency (CSE) surged to 88.89 percent from last year's 73.45 percent, "reflecting enhanced investigative capabilities."

“NCRPO is just fulfilling our mandate of peace and security.  We owe this to the public and we are duty-bound to serve and protect, with competence and integrity,” said NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin in a statement.
