MANILA — Long lines of passengers bound for their home provinces began forming at bus terminals in Cubao, Quezon City early morning on Holy Tuesday, which coincided with many workers’ payday.

At the DLTBCO terminal, which services routes to the Bicol region and Samar provinces, most passengers had secured advanced bookings for their trips.

The bus company said about 300 of its buses are expected to serve some 13,000 passengers throughout the week.

"Fully booked na kami hanggang April 22nd for Bicol, Leyte, Samar.

While the company assured that walk-in passengers would still be accommodated, they said there was no guarantee everyone could board.

To help meet the surge in demand, DLTBCO secured a special permit from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to deploy an additional 10 to 50 buses heading as far as the Samar provinces.

Over at Victory Liner, the influx of passengers began as early as Holy Monday. On Tuesday morning, the highest volume of passengers were those headed to Zambales and Olongapo. However, all Baguio-bound trips have reached full capacity.

Both terminals reminded passengers, especially those without tickets and planning to walk in, to expect longer queues as more people are anticipated to travel in time for the April 15 payday.
