MANILA — Malacañang has dismissed concerns over President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s health after social media posts claimed that the Philippine leader’s gums were bleeding during a public engagement this week.

Speculations about the President’s health surfaced after several social media users pointed out Marcos Jr’s supposedly bleeding gums while he was delivering a speech during an event honoring slain uniformed personnel and their families at Camp Aguinaldo last Tuesday.

Clips of the event had since gone viral on social media.

But Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said that there was nothing to worry about, as the president remained in good health.

“Nothing to worry po. Kaka-meeting lang po namin kaninang umaga. Wala naman po akong nakikitang hindi maayos ang kalusugan niya,” Castro told Palace reporters in a text message Thursday night.

Aside from the event at the military headquarters, Marcos attended two other events last Tuesday, namely the commemoration of the Araw ng Kagitingan at the Mt. Samat National Shrine in Pilar, Bataan, and a food fair in Mandaluyong.
