MANILA -- The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Thursday said the revised Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP) will be "holistic".

According to DOTr Undersecretary Mark Steven Pastor during the hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Services on Thursday, a technical working group (TWG) has been tasked to revise the program.

“When the program will be revamped, it will be holistic in its approach, hindi lang po patungkol sa consolidation but also the banking requirements,” Pastor said. “The Secretary created a technical working group consisting of five members from the Department of Transportation, LTO and LTFRB.”

He added the TWG is coordinating with local government units, banking institutions, and other stakeholders.

Pastor said the correct number of consolidated units, based on DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon’s examination, is 43 percent and not 86 percent.

The latter is the percentage of cooperatives that applied for consolidation.

“Si Secretary Vince nakita niya na hindi talaga tayo handa,” Senator Grace Poe said. “At least hindi niya pinipilit ang alam niyang hindi naman talaga magiging epektibo.”
