MANILA -- The Commission on Appointments has confirmed the ad interim appointments of 19 foreign service officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday, one of them DFA Undersecretary Eduardo Jose De Vega. 

Senate President Pro Tempore and CA Committee on Foreign Affairs Chair Jinggoy Estrada sponsored the nomination of the said officials.

“These individuals whose professional excellence and unwavering commitment to public service are beyond question, have been carefully vetted by our Committee and found to be highly qualified to represent our country in the international arena,” Estrada said.

De Vega was confirmed Chief of Mission, Class 1 as Ambassador to France, with concurrent jurisdiction over the principality of Monaco.

Also confirmed were the appointments of 36 officials of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), including Western Mindanao Command Commander Lieutenant General Antonio Nafarrete.

“Each of these officials has demonstrated unwavering dedication to duty making them invaluable to the continued success of our national defense framework,” CA Vice Chairperson Pangasinan Representative Ramon Guico, Jr. said.
