MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. on Tuesday said nearly 680,000 families have “achieved self-sufficiency” after graduating from the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

Under the 4Ps, a program signed into law in 2019, marginalized families will receive incentives to ensure that they will send their children to school and provide them with proper nutrition.

“Since its inception, nearly 678,000 families have achieved self-sufficiency,” Marcos Jr. said during the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) 74th anniversary celebration.

Some 40,000 4Ps beneficiaries have “passed their licensure examinations and 65 of them stood out—earning spots among the top examinees in their respective fields,” the President said.

Marcos Jr. also congratulated the DSWD for its decades-long service, and urged the agency to “remain vigilant against modern challenges such as climate change,” noting that “natural disasters are growing more frequent, more severe, leaving communities at greater risk.”
