MANILA — The police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Monday reported the arrest of nearly 11,000 wanted persons last year.

The CIDG also noted the confiscation of around 1,400 loose or unregistered firearms and the seizure of P3.3 billion worth of evidence in anti-crime operations in 2024.

In celebration of its 72nd anniversary at Camp Crame, CIDG chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III highlighted the accomplishments of the unit’s over 13,000 law enforcement operations in the past year.

These include Oplan Pagtugis, Oplan Salikop, Oplan Paglalansag Omega, Oplan Bolilyo, Oplan Megashopper, Oplan Lira, Oplan Kalikasan, and several others aimed at capturing criminal suspects across the country.

Due to the upcoming midterm elections, the CIDG is confiscating unregistered firearms "in full blast" amid the ongoing gun ban, Torre told journalists.

Torre added that a total of 2,729 cases were solved last year. He said the CIDG maintained "high efficiency" in addressing crimes, recording 99.50 percent for crime clearance efficiency and 85.92 percent for crime solution efficiency.

He said the CIDG would continue to refine and implement strategies to enhance its relevance and effectiveness in law enforcement.

He added that they would also strengthen inter-agency cooperation with law enforcement partners, local government units, and international organizations to tackle transnational crimes and foster seamless intelligence sharing.
