Mary Jane Veloso, previously sentenced to death for drug trafficking in Indonesia, arrived back home in the early hours of Wednesday after years of negotiations between the two countries that also saw her receive a last-minute reprieve from execution in 2015.

Veloso was seen embracing family members and acknowledging supporters at a women’s prison facility in Manila, after arriving from the capital’s airport. The mother of two was given special permission to have her family with her on the premises on Wednesday.

The Philippine’s Department of Justice Undersecretary, Raul Vasquez, said that Veloso will be treated as an “ordinary person deprived of liberty” and added that clemency is definitely on the table.

Veloso is due to serve her remaining sentence in her home country, with any decision on clemency dependent on Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
