The House of Representatives on Thursday granted furlough to Gina Acosta, the Special Disbursing Officer of the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

The furlough was served by staff from the Legislative Security Bureau under the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC), where Acosta is currently confined.

"Furlough lang po ang binigay natin sa kanila with the condition na in the next scheduled hearing ay darating po sila," said Rep. Joel Chua, chairperson of the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability.

Acosta and OVP Chief of Staff Zuleika Lopez are both currently confined at the VMMC.

Acosta was rushed to the VMMC last November 25 during the hearing of the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability.

Meanwhile, Lopez was admitted following a panic attack, shortly after the House of Representatives issued an order for her transfer to the Correctional Institute for Women in Mandaluyong.

Acosta was also the OVP personnel who pointed at Vice President Sara Duterte as the one who instructed her to give P125 million in confidential funds to the agency's security head.
