MANILA -- Nestle Philippines is partnering with green legistics provider Mober for the use of the latter's electric trucks.

In a statement, Mober said Nestle Philippines will use the e-trucks for its delivery needs in Metro Manila.

Mober said there is now a 60 kWh electric vehicle (EV) charging station powered entirely by renewable electricity at Nestlé Philippines’ Greater Manila Area Distribution Center in Meycauayan, Bulacan to make sure the trucks run continuously.

Compared to EVs charged with grid electricity, which emit approximately 0.68 kg of CO₂ per kWh, the use of renewable electricity for charging eliminates emissions, Mober said.

Mober chief executive officer Dennis Ng said this means they now have 8 e-trucks serving Nestle PH's operations.

"We’re helping them not only reduce their carbon footprint but also set an example for the (fast-moving consumer goods) industry," Ng said.

Nestlé Philippines head of supply chain and procurement Anderson Martins said, "We want our consumers to enjoy their favorite Nestlé products knowing that these were produced and distributed to them using 100 percent renewable electricity."

Nestle Philippines said it has is now using 100 percent renewable electricity in all its sites, two year ahead of its target. It hopes to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2050.
