MANILA -- Scoot, the low-cost arm of Singapore Airlines, is flying directly to Iloilo starting April.

In a statement, Scoot said it will mount Singapore-Iloilo flights twice a week starting April 14, but will fly four times weekly from June. Travelers hopping on this journey will be on board a 112-seater Embraer E190-E2 aircraft.

Scoot said Iloilo City is known for its stunning Spanish-era churches and the Dinagyang Festival, one of the largest religious festivals in the Philippines in honor of the Santo Nino.

"This bustling city offers a perfect mix of cultural charm and hidden gems waiting to be discovered, making it an attractive escapade for a quick recharge," Scoot said.

"With the launch of direct flights to Iloilo City, we also hope to inspire our customers to explore more cities within South East Asia and embark on new travel experiences," said Scoot CEO Leslie Thng.

Economy class tickets start at SGD129 to Iloilo, the budget airline said.

SINGAPORE TO VIENNA

The low-cost carrier will also mount thrice-a-week flights to Vienna starting June  3. Scoot said it will use the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which has the capacity for 329 passengers in two cabin classes.

"As the only airline offering direct flights between Singapore and Vienna, we are thrilled to introduce this new service from June, just in time for the holidays," Thng said.

The Philippine tourism industry saw all-time high visitor revenues from international tourists in 2024 at P760 billion.

The Philippines was eyeing to bring in 7.7 million foreign tourists in 2024.
