MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) on Thursday forged an alliance with the Villar-led Nacionalista Party ahead of the 2025 midterm polls.

Marcos and Nacionalista Party Chairman Manny Villar witnessed the signing of the alliance between both parties in a short program at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

Nacionalista is the fourth political party that the PFP has allied with, following the Lakas-CMD, the National Unity Party, and the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

In his speech, the President called the union between the two parties as a “natural alliance,” noting that his father Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. ran as President under the Nacionalista Party, and that he himself ran for national office under the same party.

Marcos also credits the Nacionalista Party for his 2022 election victory.

"Sinasabi ko, kung hindi sa NP, hindi ako naging presidente kaya't talagang malaki ang utang na loob ko sa tulong na ginawa ng NP. That makes it a very natural alliance,” Marcos said.

The President said the alliance was a continuing answer to his call for unity among leaders.

According to Marcos, the new alliance between the PFP and NP forms the largest political bloc in the Philippines.

“So, I am very, very happy...that we are today formalizing that alliance and that alliance now has formed the largest political bloc in the Philippines,” Marcos said.

Dapat kapit-bisig tayo na nagtutulungan at hindi para lamang sa ating partido. Hindi para lamang sa ating mga sarili kung hindi talaga sa serbisyo, para sa ating mga kababayan,” he said.

Villar meanwhile called the alliance between their parties the first step towards right direction.

"We need to prove to the Filipino people that we are a nation capable of rising above our differences in order to build a bright future for the country,” Villar said.

Nacionalista spokesperson and senior member Congressman Robert “Ace” Barbers said their party intended to field incumbent Senators Imee Marcos and Pia Cayetano, and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar in the 2025 senatorial race.
