MANILA — King Felipe VI of Spain is set to visit the Philippines, according to Philippine Ambassador to Spain Philippe Lhuillier.

Lhuillier made the announcement in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

"The biggest news I want to announce has been the invitation to the King, which he accepted. I was in the foreign ministry yesterday and we were talking about the trip. So hopefully it would come soon," Lhuillier said.

According to the Ambassador, the King personally wrote a "nice letter" to him "saying that he has accepted the invitation and the whole foreign ministry was surprised that he did."

"The love of Spain and the Philippines is very strong now and I believe that it will be stronger," he said.
