Teachers, parents and volunteers clean classrooms and paint armchairs at Bagong Silangan Elementary School in Quezon City on Sunday, in preparation for the opening of classes for School Year 2024-2025 on Monday, July 29. Over 1,200 public schools in Metro Manila, the Ilocos region, Central Luzon, and the SOCCSKSARGEN region have opted to postpone the opening of classes as communities continue to recover from the massive flooding caused by intense rains brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon.
