#WALANGPASOK: Class suspensions on Monday, November 18

MANILA (2nd UPDATE) -- Suspension of classes on Monday was announced in several parts of the country in anticipation of more rains from Super Typhoon Pepito. 

Classes in the following areas are suspended in all levels, public and private: 

  • Abra 
  • Aurora
  • Baguio City 
  • Benguet
  • Batangas
    • Calatagan (face-to-face classes only)
    • Sto. Tomas (face-to-face classes only) 
  • Cavite 
  • Caloocan City 
  • Camarines Norte
  • Catanduanes 
  • Laguna 
  • Las Piñas City 
  • Malabon City 
  • City of Manila 
  • Mandaluyong City 
  • Marikina City 
  • Mountain Province
  • Muntinlupa City 
  • Nueva Ecija (face-to-face classes only) 
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Pampanga 
    • Mabalacat (face-to-face classes only) 
    • Arayat 
    • San Fernando (face-to-face classes only) 
    • Sasmuan (face-to-face classes only) 
  • Angeles City (face-to-face classes only) 
  • Pangasinan 
  • Parañaque City 
  • Pasay City 
  • Quezon
    • Candelaria 
  • Quezon City 
  • Rizal 
    • Rodriguez
  • San Juan City 
  • Tarlac
  • Valenzuela City (face-to-face classes only)

 Classes in the following areas are suspended up to senior high school, public and private:

  • Taguig City
  • Quezon (the suspension is only in effect in the 1st District, 2nd District, 4th District, Macalelon, Padre Burgos, Pitogo, Unisan, and Agdangan) 

Meanwhile, Malacañang has let local chief executives decide on the suspension of classes and work in their respective jurisdictions.

"Upon consultation with the relevant government agencies and the NDRRMC, cancellation of classes and/or suspension of work in government offices is given to the respective local chief executives, taking into consideration the situation in their respective localities," the Palace said in a statement released through the Presidential Communications Office.

Pepito weakened into a typhoon and exited the landmass of Luzon late Sunday evening, according to the state weather bureau.

Signal No. 4 is still up over several areas. The typhoon was last sighted over the coastal waters of San Fernando, La Union as of 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 17.
