MANILA—With the number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines nearing 7,000 as of Thursday, the Department of Health has designated 75 COVID-19 referral hospitals.

Earlier this month, the DOH said that the hospitals can accommodate a total of 3,194 patients.

The DOH first assigned three COVID-19 referral hospitals amid calls from the private health sector to designate COVID-only medical facilities. Hospitals such as the Philippine General Hospital devoted areas for COVID-19 patients only.
