Jinyoung and Roh Jeong Eui for Viu Original The Witch

GOT7's Jinyoung and Roh Jeong Eui pair up for the first time in the new and ongoing K-drama The Witch, and their chemistry in the first few episodes alone is off the charts.  

Based on Kang Full's webtoon of the same name, the 10-episode mystery-romance series is directed by Kim Tae Gyun and written by Jo Yoo Jin. In the story, a mysterious woman, Park Mi Jeong (Roh Jeong Eui), is labeled the "witch" because there are whispers of a curse surrounding her. This is because whenever a man gets close to her, tragedy ensues for that person, forcing her into isolation. But, Lee Dong Jin (Park Jin Young), her former high school classmate and a determined data analyst, refuses to believe the rumors.

When asked what it means to them to work on The Witch, both agree that collaboration made the process and journey more special. "It made me realize how fun it is to work together. We shared our opinions. We talked and worked on this series together. I realized that once again," Jinyoung told Metro.Style. And because everyone was collaborative and shared a goal of bringing out the best in every scene, the actors were also motivated to flesh out the emotions required from their characters. Roh Jeong Eui shared, "Since I communicated with everyone the most in this series, I felt that everyone was working together. So it means even more."  

The cinematography in The Witch is remarkable, and the wintry backdrop in poignant scenes contributes to setting the dramatic tone that enhances the storytelling. While this picturesque season adds beauty to the final outputs, it also presented challenges for the cast and crew. When asked what the hardest part of filming this series is, Jinyoung and Roh Jeong Eui had the same answer: "The cold." With how well-executed those scenes are, viewers may think the cold didn't bother them, but it actually did—still, they delivered. "Yes, the cold weather," she said. "No matter how much we bundled up, the wind was still too cold."

Many factors come into play for a series to catch (and keep!) the viewers' attention. It may have the most interesting, compelling story, but it could easily lose its spark when there's no chemistry between the leads. In the case of The Witch, the seamless evolution of the connection between Jinyoung's and Roh Jeong Eui's characters is worth holding onto. These artists make such a good pair (we love the way Lee Dong Jin watches Park Mi Jeong from afar with such a heart-fluttering gaze), and their off-screen camaraderie translated into on-screen magic. When asked to compliment each other, Jinyoung called his leading lady "a little giant." 

He said, "She's like a little giant. She has a charisma that goes beyond her age. And she leads people. I think she's a little giant."

On the other hand, Roh Jeong Eui commented on both his great personality and talent in acting. "He's a great partner and a good grown-up. He was often very considerate," she shared. "He helped a lot of staff cheer up. He's the best actor." 

Upon hearing that comment, Jinyoung got shy; with an adorable giggle, he said, "It's nice, but it's also embarrassing. I'm suddenly getting sweaty."
