Intramuros is holding its first-ever summer festival this Saturday, April 26.

The event, which also marks the 46th founding anniversary of Intramuros Administration (IA), aims to celebrate the walled city's history, culture, and community.

"This day-long affair is meticulously designed to deepen our connection with our nation's storied past, while simultaneously embracing the evolving tapestry of Filipino identity through contemporary cultural expressions," said IA administrator Atty. Joan Padilla.

Some of the events and activities lined up for the Intramuros summer festival include a colorful street parade, storytelling sessions, a stage show, and a pop-up market featuring regional delicacies, among others.

A Sinag Concert will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Plaza Moriones, featuring performances by Itchyworms, Over October, and Earl Agustin, as well as student talents from Intramuros-based schools.

Another highlight of the festival is the launch of the Intramuros Passport, which is inspired by Japan's Eki train stamps, Taiwan's metro rail system, and Dubai's global village.

Priced at P350, it grants access to all major IA-managed heritage sites: Fort Santiago, Baluarte de San Diego, Casa Manila, Museo de Intramuros, and Centro de Turismo Intramuros.

It also allows visitors to enjoy a free ride on the Tranvia streetcars in the walled city.

"Visitors will earn a unique passport stamp for each visited site, turning a casual stroll into a rewarding cultural adventure," said IA business management division head Dang Mendoza.

"As tourists fill their passports, they not only gain a deeper appreciation for the area's rich history, but also enjoy a fun and interactive way to document their journey."
