A Filipino-American beauty queen has assumed the title of Miss USA 2023.

Savannah Gankiewicz, who represented Hawaii and finished as first runner-up, is taking over the role following the resignation of former titleholder Noelia Voigt.

She will have her own crowning moment on May 15, according to a post on the social media pages of Miss USA on Friday.

"We are proud to crown Savannah Miss USA 2023, a true representation of vision, intelligence, and compassion," said Miss USA Organization CEO and president Laylah Rose. "Her dedication to empowering women through self-love and confidence is inspiring, and we look forward to her impactful reign as Miss USA."

Born and raised in Hawaii, Gankiewicz is of Filipina, Polish, and Vietnamese descent. She said she supports Voigt's decision to step down, and that she stands "in solidarity with mental health awareness."

"I accept the crown knowing that I have been uplifted by my supporters, my friends, and the people of Hawaii throughout my journey. I accept this title on their behalf," she said in a statement released by Miss USA.

"To my fellow Miss USA sisters, I believe it's crucial for us to stand united for the future of the organization and the incoming class of 2024 and beyond. I pledge my wholehearted support to the new delegates who have dedicated themselves to their state pageants, and I am committed to ensuring a seamless and memorable transition between Miss USA titleholders," she added.

Gankiewicz hopes to be a "symbol of resilience and hope" during her reign, and "bring the Aloha spirit across the nation," according to Miss USA.

She will pass her crown during the Miss USA 2024 pageant in August.
